Call Notes

March Action Items

  • All: identify how-to guide for APTI-Learn if it already exists; status: MARAMA and Justin Hall offering two webinars on APTI Learn SI courses (last week and this week) with > 300 participants registered

Come up with best practices guide for repackaging in-class delivery to instructor led online; status: materials collected from MARAMA, some trainers, and Cornerstone, Best Practices wiki template needs to be developed

  • Zac: Schedule call with instructors: MJOs and instructors (not NOWCC until EPA can weigh in); status: completed March 26, notes from the call attached here

Seeking ideas from training coordinators on the list of instructors to bring to the table Compile list of courses that have been recently cancelled (see APTI-Learn calendar), and survey air programs for courses most in demand for staff working from home; status: pending, see the E-learning Request List After the previous two bullets: Identify a course and instructor or two to pilot this effort in the next month

  • All: Send us where you can help in the following areas; status: Kara Murphy has worked on a lot of this, will review additional priorities on the call
    • Funding for contractors to repackage content
    • Compile list of priority courses
    • Engage with instructors (contracting?)
    • Produce the live training webinars
    • Develop guidance on live instructor led training, and transitioning classroom content

JTC remote training initiative

  • See the training response initiative wiki;
  • what are the pending priorities/needs for the Delivery WG?
  • How to build demand?
    • It needs to be a national initiative, not MJO by MJO
    • Two things are happening at the states (TX perspective): 1) a lot of new people who need intro training, need introductory classes; 2) more experienced tech staff have specific needs for mid to upper level NACT courses, permitting, etc; SI105 takes care of the 101 materials; where do you get intro courses to specific branch staff, e.g., permitting staff
    • Some reluctance to dive right into the online for courses that take multiple days, e.g., Gary McCutchen's intro to intermediate permitting courses; concerns about interactivity of online courses
    • Offer basic courses online, with the assumption that it's national; MJOs pick a couple of courses: NSR/PSD online and a couple of high demand NACT courses
    • What are the classes? permitting, intro NACT courses, pick 2-3 of these nationally and offer them
    • Permitting courses would be great and have a lot of interest, not sure which is better intro or intermediate? For a national focus lean on the genral permitting course
    • Zac and Jeff propose a couple of courses to the other MJOs
