Call Notes

• Note that Carissa Ganapathy from CARB will join our call next month to describe their work on developing online courses

• July Action Items
  • Zac: add discussion of this WG's training delivery methods document to the August call; status: sent before call
  • Chris: post training delivery methods document to EPA Sharepoint for group editing; status: pending
  • Zac: compile results/summaries from new evaluation pilots for review on next WG call; status: in progress, discuss on Sept call

• Update from EPA on internal work assignment, matrix, and delivery methods doc
  • Expecting something later this week, needs EPA review first, before it's send to this WG
  • Looking for individual comments on the doc, not consensus due to FACA
  • Sent comments on the matrix to the contractor and these are being integrated into the deliverable

• EPA/ICF presentation on delivery methods to the LMS WG
  • Presentation on blended learning methods, and tool used at ICF for people who are designing trainings to answer question on how to apply learning methods
  • Chris may send slides, don’t circulate the slides, and MARAMA has a recording of the webinar;
  • Zac reacted to the notice of a presentation on delivery methods to the LMS WG because he felt it was infringing on the domain of this WG
  • Assured by Chris and Adam that it was an effort to get the LMS WG started on thinking about the capabilities need for the new LMS; will still be coming to this WG for information on delivery options
  • Discussion on scope and purpose of the ICF slides, can this information be used by this WG w/o violating the ICF IP restrictions?
  • Should we review the ICF tool? May get some ideas, but want to have some flexibility to develop/customize?
  • What flexibility could there be in borrowing ideas from the tool?
  • Concern that once we see the presentation/tool we’ll be held to an agreement to not use/share
  • Chris decided to not share the slides on the tool for now, will let this WG work through our internal process
  • Question about whether there are restrictions to using the ICF tool on an LMS developed by someone else?

• Delivery methods discussion
  • Question about the objective/scope of the document; decided that it's an internal working document that's developed to normalize the language used to describe delivery options, and to list the universe of options available/appropriate to the national training program
  • Amy will update the document to include an objectives statement at the top
  • Began at the top and reviewed comments on the Classroom learning option; decided to remove internship/mentoring as a training option because it's not applicable to the national training program
  • Amy will parse the definition of lecture vs. training in the document
  • Amy to clean up the document comments/edits and send to Zac for posting as a Google Doc
  • All WG members to review/edit/comment on the doc before the next call
